Action : Animal shelter Vermellois

The animal home Vermellois was born on December 24, 1988. Initially the refuge takes over the dogs of the shelter of Verquigneul, a fortnight in total all aged.

Volunteers carry out various actions: adoptions, various demonstrations, and take care of all the day-to-day tasks of the shelter: caring for animals, walking them, teaching with a canine educator, etc.

Since 1989, the shelter has received only one grant from the Vermelles Town Council (1% of the annual budget), it only works thanks to regular help from “30 millions d’amis” donations from individuals and activities organized throughout the year. This shelter has the reputation of well caring and pampering animals, thanks to the whole team that works there, volunteers and helped contracts. Every day, they give their time without counting to bring well-being and comfort to their little protégés and ensure the financial survival of the shelter.

The number of dropouts increases each year for both dogs and cats, but thanks to the numerous communication actions (site, local press, facebook, relational sharing …), this allows them to maintain a “reasonable” workforce and to make in the face of the many abandonments and to have a number of adoptions balancing the numbers; some dogs nonetheless have a desperately long refugee presence despite a record number of deans’ adoptions as part of the operation deans of the “30 millions d’amis” association.
